Frequently Asked Questions

We know that choosing the right support for your child is a big decision. This FAQ section is here to answer common questions and help you feel confident, informed, and hopeful as you explore how Brain in Bloom Learning can help your child thrive.

1. What makes Brain in Bloom Learning different from tutoring?

Unlike traditional tutoring, which typically focuses on reteaching academic content, Brain in Bloom Learning addresses the underlying skills that impact learning—like attention, memory, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and sensory processing. We blend cognitive skill building with movement, relationship, and strategy, offering support that truly sticks.

2. What does Whole-Child Learning mean?

Whole-Child Learning means we look beyond just test scores or homework struggles. We consider your child’s cognitive development, emotional wellbeing, sensory needs, motivation, and family dynamics. Our sessions may include fine motor practice, movement breaks, self-regulation strategies, and personalized academic support—because a regulated, confident brain is a learning brain.

3. What does an intervention and success plan look like for my child?

Following a comprehensive intake and initial assessment, we’ll collaborate with you to create a personalized success plan. This includes:

  • Specific learning and regulation goals

  • A session schedule

  • Home supports (when helpful)

  • Clear progress milestones
We revisit and update the plan regularly to ensure your child’s growth stays on track.

4. How do I get started?

It’s simple! Reach out via our contact form to schedule a free consultation. We’ll discuss your child’s needs, walk you through the assessment process, and determine the best path forward together.

5. Who do you work with?

We support students ages 3 through high school who benefit from a personalized, integrated learning approach. This includes learners with or without formal diagnoses, including ADHD, autism, dyslexia, anxiety, and sensory processing differences. If you’re unsure whether your child is a fit—reach out! We’re happy to help you decide.

6. What types of challenges can you help with?

We specialize in supporting:

  • Executive function challenges (organization, time management, focus)

  • Academic skill gaps (reading, writing, math)

  • Sensory regulation and attention

  • Motivation and confidence

  • Emotional regulation and flexible thinking
If your child struggles with learning how to learn, we’re here for them.

7. Do you provide services in-home or virtually?

Currently, services are offered in-home in the Beach Cities area. As we grow, we’re transitioning toward a classroom-style space for sessions. Virtual support may be available on a case-by-case basis depending on the student’s needs and goals.

8. How is progress measured?

We use a mix of observational data, skill-based assessments, session notes, and parent input to track growth over time. You’ll receive regular updates and progress check-ins to ensure your child is moving steadily toward their goals.

9. How involved are parents in the process?

Very! Parent collaboration is one of our pillars. We provide you with updates, tools, and home support strategies when appropriate. We also offer parent coaching sessions to help families reinforce progress in day-to-day life.

10. How long will my child need support?

Every child is unique. Some families seek short-term support to build key skills or get back on track, while others benefit from ongoing, layered intervention. After the initial assessment, we’ll provide a recommended time frame based on your child’s goals and current skill levels.

11. Do you collaborate with schools or other professionals?

Absolutely. We believe in a team-based approach and are happy to collaborate with your child’s teacher, occupational therapist, speech-language pathologist, or other specialists—always with your consent. Unified support makes a world of difference.

12. What are your rates and how is payment handled?

Rates vary based on the services outlined in your child’s personalized Success Plan. Typically students are receiving services for $150- $200 per session. We’ll review all pricing clearly before beginning services. Invoices are sent weekly, and we accept cash, Zelle, and Venmo. At this time, Brain in Bloom Learning is private pay only.

13. My child has never liked learning—can you still help?

Yes! Many of our students come to us feeling frustrated, avoidant, or disconnected from learning. And that’s where we shine. We’re masters at “tricking” kids into enjoying the process again—by weaving movement, creativity, play, and connection into each session. Once learning feels safe and engaging, everything starts to bloom.
